A Brief Conversation with the Blackstone River
This short film was inspired by Robert MacFarlane's recent book, "Is a River Alive?" In it, he contrasts the notion of a river as a collection of assets available for exploitation to the perception of a river as a living entity. I imagined what it might be like to hold a conversation with a river I know fairly well. My conversation with the river was not intended to criticize all of the considerable work that has been done to help the river (at substantial costs). I'm more interested in how these situations come to be.
