Deindustrialization - Blackstone River Valley Mills
They emerge as you drive through the small towns and countryside of the Blackstone River Valley....textile mills, or what is left of them. Often giant structures that seem out of place given their scale. They are remnants of the beginnings of the industrial revolution in the United States. Some are gone of course, some have burned, some have been repurposed, and some just wait. They all serve as reminders of the long term impact of boom and bust.
