Holding Back the Water

Winsor Dam and Goodnough Dike were erected in the late 1930's to create the Quabbin Reservoir. In the process several thousand residents were put off the land of four, now lost, towns. The structures that remain now blend in with the rolling hills that surround the Reservoir, almost making it possible to forget their origins.
